“We should be very proud of the rich cultural heritage,” said Nagaland’s Governor P.B. Acharya while addressing a cultural extravaganza event billed as “Discover North East- A Cultural Yatra 2016” here at the State Academy Hall this afternoon.
It was organized by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, Ministry of Culture, Govt of Industry in partnership with arts & culture department, Nagaland.
Acharya sung sweet tune about the colorful dances, drama, music that the country own and stressed on the need to have cultural exchange programme in the country. He also stressed on the need to build friendship, brotherhood and fellowship through the cultural platform. He was also appreciative that the youth of the country are marching ahead in the different fields.
Art & culture director Vevo Sapuh said the ‘Discover North East Yatra’ was introduce in 2015 and this programme will now be an annual event. The idea behind this event is to bring the rich collective cultures of India right to our doorstep, while at the same time offering to the visiting artistes, the unique opportunity to see, experience and participate in our way of life.
NEZCC director Lipokmar Tzudir also spoke on the occasion. Cultural artistes from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland performed dances and rich folk traditions to the delight of the audience.
