Dimapur, August 21 (MExN): Peace Channel conducted one day capacity building programme for 30 teacher animators of Peace Club under the theme “Discovering one’s potentials as teacher” on August 20. The programme was held at Peace Channel Training Hall here.
Speaking on the occasion as resource person, Rev. Fr. C.T. Varghese, Rector, Don Bosco Community Dimapur stressed on the roles teachers need to cultivate to make teaching effective. “Greatness comes from being responsible and it is every teacher’s duty to be responsible towards their students,” he stated, according to a press release from Peace Channel. Rev. Fr. Varghese further said a teacher has specific role and responsibility to play in the life of a child. Students will retain their learning and effectively use it if the teacher takes ownership in learning, he stated, adding teacher’s performance and presentation should be creative. Maintaining that disciplining the students is the foremost responsibility, he stated discipline should not be confined only in classroom but should be reflected wherever they are.
Dr. C.P. Anto, Director, Peace Channel stressed on encouraging and mentoring the students towards higher goal. He cited the example of Thomas Alva Edison, who interpreted the negative reports of Edison from school to positivity and taught her son to excel. “Imbibe passion in the mind of the students from positive thinking to possibility thinking to aspire towards zenith,” he told the teachers.
The program that began with a words of welcome and introducing the resource person by James Mavelil, Asst. Director, Peace Channel concluded with group work on how to function the Peace Club effectively by Janthuiyang RK John, Project Coordinator.
