Disgruntled people provided harmful allegations: Cosyne

DIMAPUR, JUNE 29 (MExN): Rebuffing accusations of duping several of its students of their money, Cosyne, an IT career training institute offering placements, today said “it deeply saddens us that some disgruntled people have provided such harmful allegations.”

A newspaper report had yesterday said that several students had alleged they were taken for a ride after Cosyne cheated them of money totaling an amount of about Rs 47 lakh. The institute’s CEO, Perry Ram, said in a reply: “Twisting the facts to suit one’s purpose does not alter the truth and if the students were being misled surely it will not take nearly two years to complain.”

He also encouraged the media, government, or any other concerned agency and person to talk to their students employed in Delhi, Guwahati, Calcutta or anywhere if the training provided was valuable and instrumental for their employment. “We request the people to let us know if there is any student who has met the contractual obligation of successfully completing the Prometric exam and has not been offered job placement by the institute. This simple requirement will expose the falsehood in the allegations.” He continued, “We are willing to forgive anyone for their immature and thoughtless actions but should this continue we will have no option but to file a defamation suit against the perpetrators.” Cosyne, whose course programs in Nagaland were earlier partly funded by the government, further said it had “nothing to hide” and that it was willing to provide all documents required for the “truth.”

A separate communication from a former student now employed with Cosyne in Guwahati said he was regularly receiving his salary as against the allegation that four to five students recruited by the institute to work in Guwahati worked without pay for several months and were made to live solely on promises of better opportunities.

The former student said two his friends were called to help out with a seminar organized by the institute in Guwahati. “And to be truthful our Madam asked them to stay in Guwahati for a while and clear all the exams free of cost. What I’m trying to say is they stayed here in Guwahati for exam and their post was supposed to be in Dimapur.”
