WOKHA, JULY 11 (MExN): The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha, on Friday under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha Member of Parliament S. Supongmeren Jamir to review the progress and challenges of various centrally sponsored schemes in the district.
At the meeting, Jamir underlined DISHA’s core objective of ensuring transparency, monitoring, and proper implementation of government schemes. Expressing concern over irregularities in fund distribution, delays in project execution, and the need for accurate assessment of on-ground challenges, he urged departments to improve public service delivery and enhance the accessibility and impact of schemes, especially those benefiting farmers.
During the meeting, the Public Health and Engineering Department presented updates on the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), focusing on household coverage and the availability of safe drinking water, while highlighting implementation hurdles affecting the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).
The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) shared progress on various ongoing rural infrastructure projects. The Urban Development Department presented updates on PMAY-Urban for Wokha and Bhandari subdivisions, underlining implementation issues and challenges in beneficiary coverage. Progress under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was also discussed.
The Department of Agriculture highlighted the lack of cold storage facilities as a major constraint for farmers, while the Horticulture Department gave an overview of schemes and projects undertaken along with operational challenges.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on appealing to central ministries for enhanced funding and resources, particularly where allocations were deemed insufficient for project completion. Jamir reiterated DISHA’s commitment to ensuring successful execution of development initiatives through coordinated governance and accountability.
