Dissemination of HIV & AIDS Act prog held in Mon

Mon, December 7 (MExN): The District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) Mon with the support from NSACS organised a programme on ‘dissemination of HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017’ with church leaders, tribal hohos, panchayats, wards, youth organisation and students’ unions was conducted in Resource Centre, DRDA Mon on December 7.

A press release received here stated that the resource person, N Mannon, Advocate, Project Assistant, District Legal Services Authority, Mon while presenting on the topic said it is an Act of the Parliament of India that commenced on April 21, 2017 and came into force on September 10, 2018. 

He highlighted the main provisions under the Act and mentioned that it aims to prevent and control the spread of HIV and AIDS in the country, and provides for penalties for discrimination against those affected by the virus. The roles and responsibilities of an Ombudsman and Complaint Officers was briefly shared where she mentioned that they were assigned to investigate and enquire the complaints filed by an aggrieve person, it added. 

Earlier, the keynote address was delivered by Longyim Tzudir, District Programme Officer, DAPCU Mon and a prayer was said by N Panwang, Pastor, Police Baptist Church Mon.
