Distribute text books, school uniforms at the earliest: NSF

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 21 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has demanded that text books, study materials and school uniforms for students studying in government schools be distributed at the earliest. It also stated that if school uniforms are to be given in cloth materials, the stitching cost for the uniform should be paid to the students.

In a press statement, the NSF has reminded that State Government and Department of School Education that it had served a representation to the Minister of School Education on October 22, 2017 regarding serious delay in distribution of text books, study materials and school uniform for the past few years.

A reminder letter reiterating to the earlier representation was also served to the Minister of School Education on January 25, 2018.

However, the Federation lamented that almost all the government schools which had re-opened by the second week of February, 2018 as directed by the Department of School Education are yet to receive even a “single set” of text books and study materials. Like the previous years, the government schools are yet to receive the school uniforms, it also added.

While demanding that the free text books, study materials and school uniforms be distributed immediately, the Federation cautioned that it will not hesitate to close down the Directorate of School Education and the Offices of the Implementing Agencies (Mission Offices) if the issue is not addressed.
