Distributers issue rejoinder on shortage of LPG in Kohima

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): Proprietor of Seyie Gas Service and president of All Kohima Indane Distributors Association (AKIDA) issued a rejoinder to the Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) and the Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) on the issue of shortage of LPG in Kohima.

The NVCO had claimed that the shortage of LPG in Kohima has led to the proliferation of the black market. The AKMWP in a separate statement alleged that Seyie Gas was issuing LPG only once a week, which encouraged black marketers to shoot up the LPG price.

In response, proprietor of Seyie Gas Service, Kuolachalie Seyie acknowledged that there is definitely shortage of LPG in Kohima. However, Seyie claimed that the shortage is due to road blockade of NH 29 during the month of July and August, 2018 as a result of natural calamities in addition to LPG bandh in north eastern states and government holidays.

It has therefore urged the LPG customers to be patient for few more weeks so as to normalise the situation. On the alleged black-marketing of LPG, Seyie maintained that the LPG distributors of Kohima have repeatedly informed the customers, NVCO, and denizens of Kohima, through press releases and other means of communications to report such acts to the district administration so that they can trace the supply source of such black markets.

However, Seyie termed it as unfair that instead of making efforts to nab these alleged black marketers, people were only keen on blaming the LPG distributors of Kohima.

While calling for all to join hands towards solving the issue of black marketing and pilfering of LPG, it stated that the LPG distributors of Kohima were ever ready to support any legal action against such black marketers if they are caught.
