Tuensang, November 22 (MExN): A distribution drive for free assistive devices was held for persons with disabilities and senior citizens at Town Hall, Longkhim on November 22.
The event was organised by the Department of Social Welfare, Tuensang and the Chief Medical Officer, Tuensang in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), according to a DIPR report.
The devices, which included wheelchairs, crutches, and hearing aids, were distributed under the ADIP and RVY schemes.
A total of 47 beneficiaries in the Longkhim area received aids under the ADIP scheme and 366 under the RVY scheme. In the Chare area, 32 beneficiaries were covered under ADIP and 173 under RVY, the report stated.
Advisor for IT & Communication, Economics & Statistics, evaluation, H Sethrongkyu Sangtam graced the occasion as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor said that distribution of free assistive devices under ADIP and RVY Schemes could reach to the neediest persons because of the dedicated and active initiatives officers led by Deputy Commissioner, Chief Medical Officer and District Welfare Officer of Tuensang and thanked them for their effort in bringing such development in the new district. He said that these Assistive devices are provided after proper assessment by the doctors which would be helpful for the disabled person. He further informed that those who could not attend and avail today's distribution can approach CMO Office Tuensang to avail such facility in the future.
In a short speech, DC Tuensang, Lithrongla said that this is the first ever development in achieving the long dreams of the district. She thanked the Advisor, H Sethrongkyu Sangtam, Department of Social Welfare, Tuensang and CMO Office, Tuensang for their active initiative for bringing development in the district.
Earlier, the Advisor also inaugurated PHSNS Range Hall at Longkhim town.
The programme was chaired by Social Welfare Inspector Tuensang, Thsapongcham Sangtam, and the keynote address was delivered by CMO Tuensang, Dr Imlitemsu Ozukum, LTBL, Dr C Longri invoked God's blessing and culminated with a vote of thanks by DWO, Tuensang, T Longlang Luckpan.
