Dr.Alemba R Jamir, Senior Specialist, addresses the gathering at the One Health Awareness Week 2025 programme held in Tuensang on November 9.
Tuensang, November 9 (MExN): The Sentinel Surveillance Site of the District Hospital Tuensang observed One Health Awareness Week 2025 and conducted awareness and sensitization programme among the healthcare workers, veterinary officers and forest officials from November 3 to 9.
In the first day, Dr. Tochi Chang, Nodal Officer, NOHP-PCZ, Sentinel Surveillance Site, District Hospital Tuensang, highlighted on the importance of observing the One Health Week-2025 and the role of the NOHP-PCZ.
According to an update received here, it stated that on the second to the fifth day, the focus was on the schools and college engagement with the involvement of students and teachers from two major schools in Tuensang, particularly Holy Angel School and Bethesda School.
Posters and pamphlets were distributed among the participants where they were encouraged to raise awareness on different endemic Zoonotic diseases, mainly Bucellosis and Scrub typhus, in the community.
At the same time, posters and pamplets on different zoonotic diseases and their preventive measures were distributed in the surroundings of all the institutes.
The sixth and seventh day focused on community outreach and IEC activities, under which speeches were delivered by Dr.Alemba R Jamir, Senior Specialist and Dr. Mohan Sharma, Microbiologist, focusing on the importance of AMR and Zoonotic diseases.
It stated that visits were made to different churches and leaders, advocating the importance of observing One Health Week-2025. IEC materials were distributed while people were made aware of the testing facilities available under NOHP-PCZ project.
