An awareness programme among the Health Workers of District Hospital Tuensang was held on occasion of One Health Day-2025.
Tuensang, November 4 (MExN): On the occasion of ‘One Health Day-2025’, Centre for One Health-NCDC, NOHP-PCZ, Sentinel Surveillance Site, BSL-2 Lab, District Hospital Tuensang conducted an awareness programme among the Health Workers of District Hospital Tuensang.
One Health Day is an international campaign that celebrates the need for a One Health approach to address shared health threats at the human-animal-environment interface. The day is observed on November 3 every year with the objective of raising awareness on the concept of One Health, with the theme, “By protecting one, we help protect all.”
The awareness programme was chaired by Sungjemmenla Thonger, Lab tech, SSS-NOHP-PCZ, DH Tuensang while Dr Sakuyuba Imchen, Medical Superintendent, DH Tuensang delivered the welcome note, and highlighted about the essence of One Health Day celebration, while emphasizing on the collaborative effort among different sectors.
The theme speech was delivered by Dr. Alemba R Jamir, Senior Specialist, DH Tuensang, wherein he highlighted on the significance of One Health Day celebration, the theme of this year for One Health Day and also about different challenges in due to absence of diagnosis for various diseases such as Melioidosis.
Dr Mohan Sharma, Microbiologist of the BSL-2 Laboratory District Hospital Tuensang, also briefed about the One Health Concept and different priority zoonotic diseases and the available tests in the facility.
Dr Aojongshi VAS (Veterinary Assistant Surgeon) Tuensang delivered a lecture on some the deadly zoonotic disease, Brucellosis, food borne diseases as Salmonellosis, Cysticercosis etc. He also explained the role of vaccination and deworming practices for the control of some of the common diseases originating in livestock.
The theme talk session was followed vote of thanks, Dr. Tochi Chang, Nodal officer. A total of 39 participants were present representing from CMO office Tuensang, Forest Department, NOHP-PCZ staffs, Nursing School faculties and Hospital Staffs.
