District level consultation on Nagaland Land Use Policy

Mokokchung, December 5 (DIPR): The District Level Consultation Process on 2nd Draft Nagaland Land Use Policy was held at the Conference Hall of ADC (planning) Mokokchung on December 5. SDO (C) Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal gave the opening remarks to the Consultation on Land Use policy, its need and importance.  

Shilpa Chohan, from the Indian Environment Law Organization (IELO) gave a presentation on the key elements of the (Draft) Nagaland Land Use Policy and Lipok Jamir ATMA Programme Coordinator shared the stakeholder response to the (Draft) Nagaland Land Use Policy at the Range Level.  

Majority of the representatives from the villages gave positive response expressing that having the Land Use Policy (LUP) would be beneficial, except for some who suggested that the policy be discussed 3rd draft thoroughly at the village level.  

Another 10 days was extended (Till 15th Dec. 16) to all the villages to submit suggestions for addition or deletion in the Draft Policy, which has to be addressed to deputy Commissioner & Chairman JRMC or ADC of the Sub-Divisions. The consultation meeting was chaired by Project Officer, SARS Yisemyong, Deepak Chetri.
