A District Level Unity Rally was organised by the District Administration, Noklak, in collaboration with MY Bharat Tuensang, on November 13 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

The rally, held under the theme “Ek Bharat-Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” began from Traffic Point and culminated at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Noklak. It was flagged off by Thipuzhoyi Tunyi, NPS, Superintendent of Police, Noklak, who called upon participants to uphold unity and patriotism as envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Participants from the Police Department, Village Guards, schools, student unions, tribal councils, NGOs, and various government departments joined the march, displaying enthusiasm and solidarity.

The culmination programme was held at the DC conference hall, Noklak, with Bangjunglemba, NCS, EAC Noklak, serving as the chairperson. The programme began with an invocation by a pastor from Noklak Town Baptist Church, followed by a keynote address delivered by P. Mono Khiamniungan, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, who underscored Sardar Patel’s enduring contributions to India’s unity and nation-building.

A detailed address on the “Life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel” was delivered by Kishor Barman, District Youth Officer, Mera Yuva Bharat, who reflected on Patel’s courage, leadership, and his pivotal role in integrating more than 560 princely states into one united India after independence.

“Sardar Patel’s life is a shining example of dedication, courage, and an unshakable commitment to the unity and integrity of our motherland,” Barman said. “His vision, diplomacy, and firmness prevented the balkanization of our country and laid the foundation for the strong, united India we cherish today.”

He reminded the gathering of Patel’s belief that “manpower without unity is not a strength unless it is harmonized and united properly; then it becomes a spiritual power.”

The cultural segment featured a song performance by students of Government Higher Secondary School, Noklak, and a traditional dance by students of Government High School, Noklak. Prizes for the week-long activities and competitions were later distributed by EAC Bangjunglemba, marking the culmination of the district-wide celebration.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a week-long series of activities was organized earlier in the district, including essay competitions, poster-making, debates, cleanliness drives, yoga and wellness sessions, and lectures on the life and legacy of Sardar Patel.
