The Office of the District Youth Resources and Sports Officer (DYRSO), Zunheboto, organised the District-Level Youth Festival 2026 at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Old Town, Zunheboto, on September 14.
The festival aimed to provide a platform for young talents to showcase their creativity, cultural skills, artistic abilities and oratory skills through various competitions.
The programme commenced with a welcome and introductory session, followed by an invocation delivered by Ilo K Achumi, Assistant Pastor (C), SBCZ. This was followed by an address and briefing by Anguvito Sumi, District Youth Resources and Sports Officer (DYRSO), Zunheboto.
The competitions included declamation, folk song and folk dance, allowing participants to demonstrate their talents while promoting cultural expression and youth participation. Three educational institutes participated in the event including Zunheboto Government College (ZGC); Cornerstone Higher Secondary School (CHSS), Zunheboto and Olympic Higher Secondary School (OHSS), Zunheboto.
In the declamation competition, Nigha of CHSS secured the first position, while Lino Kiba of ZGC secured the second position. In the folk song competition, ZGC secured the first position, followed by CHSS, in second place. In the folk dance competition, CHSS, secured the first position, while ZGC secured the second position.
The District-Level Youth Festival highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent and encouraging youth participation in cultural and artistic activities.
