A detailed presentation was delivered by SDO, PHED, Lichonthung Patton on the current status of the schemes and the work carried out under SBM-G 2.0 and JJM.
Executive Engineer, PHED (Rural), Nerie-e Nisa said that the “Hamara Shauchalay, Hamara Bhavishya” campaign was launched on World Toilet Day on November 19 with the theme “Sanitation in a changing world,” and the tagline “We will always need the toilet” and will culminate on December 10, 2025. Matters related to open defecation, solid and liquid waste management, groundwater quality and village-level sanitation activities, along with necessary interventions, were discussed.
The Deputy Commissioner urged all departmental representatives to work in close coordination and uphold their responsibilities under the DWSM framework. He encouraged members to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and support rural bodies for effective implementation of the schemes. He stressed that both SBM-G Phase-II and JJM are crucial to improving the quality of life in rural communities and require active engagement from all stakeholders. He directed PHED and Water Resources Departments to conduct a scientific study on the water quality of the Chathe River and submit a report on the impact of riverbed mining.
