The divisions and differences among the Nagas began in Eastern Nagaland since 1977 when Th. Muivah strongly advocated to form Socialist Government to overthrow the genuine leadership of NNC President Dr. A.Z. Phizo.
Thus the beginning of the division in Naga society had now passed more than 30 years before the formation of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) in 2008. Therefore the statement, “The real divisions in Naga society are between those who support the reconciliation and those who opposed to it” by the FNR dated 21st May, 2012 in local dailies is totally wrong.
The political motive behind the formation of NSCN is now cleared to all and it is to sell out the sovereignty of Nagaland in the interest of the Indian Constitution. But the Nagas refused to take part in the political negotiation of Muivah-Isak with GoI for a solution within the Indian Constitution. This is the main cause of divisions and differences among the Nagas as Nagas always remain as an independent nation. On the one hand, Isak-Muivah’s policy for political settlement is in favor of India through the process of reconciliation.
If the process of reconciliation is for a solution within the Indian Union, there will be no peace, unity and reconciliation among the Nagas, but Nagas always stand as a nation and a people as God our Lord has given us sovereignty and freedom and that is the only option for the Nagas to be reconciled.
