DLSAs heighten women’s empowerment in Nagaland

Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): District Legal Services Authorities celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing various programme and activities in all the districts of Nagaland.
Zunheboto: Zunheboto DLSA in collaboration with District Administration and Sakhi One Stop Center observed the Women's Day at Lukikhe Shevishe Village, Aghunato Town. Wokono Yhoshü JMFC and Secretary Zunheboto DLSA delivered the keynote address. N Nyamoke Konyak, EAC Zunheboto spoke on empowerment of women, followed by Alovini Yeptho Center Administrator Sakhi-OSC briefed on 10 legal rights of women and schemes for women.
Special number was presented by True Messenger and benediction by Rev Victo Shohe Pastor AVBC. Pamphlets were also distributed with more than 100 women attendance.
Longleng: Longleng DLSA in collaboration with Phomla Hoichem celebrated Women’s Day at GHSS Auditorium. B Ongthei Phom, Vice President Phomla Hoichem gave the keynote Address. P Monyei Phom Panel Lawyer briefed on the significance of the day and emphasized on 10 Legal Rights that Every Woman must know. Ajongba Inchen CJM/Secretary LDLSA spoke on the topic “The Village Council Act’.
Mokokchung: Mokokchung DLSA observed the event at town hall, Mokokchung in collaboration with Aoli Watsu Mungdang, Sakhi one-stop Centre and Fazl Ali College. Retainer lawyer I Imkong Jamir was the resource person and Holika Sukhalu, Secretary, MDLSA also participated at the event.
Peren: Peren district administration in collaboration with district social welfare department observed women's day along with Peren DLSA at Jalukie town, Government higher secondary school ground. Italang, Panel Lawyer spoke on Legal rights of women emphasised on domestic violence act 2005 and maintenance under section 125 Crpc.
Heirei WWO, MSK on BBBP highlighted on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Pamphlets and leaflets in different languages including Liangmai, Zeme and Kuki were distributed to 100 beneficiaries.
Dimapur: Dimapur DLSA celebrated Women’s day at Prodigals’ Home with Prodigals’ Home and Wondang-Ki Charitable Foundation. K. Ela, Director, Prodigals’ Home delivered the welcome address. The men from the Prodigals’ Home IRCA (MEN), rehab home dedicated a special song to the women folks. Somet C Chang, CJM & Secretary, Dimapur DLSA gave the keynote address. Sentimenla, Panel Lawyer DDLSA, spoke on “Basic Legal Rights with special reference to women.”
Mon: Mon DLSA observed Women's Day at Mon Village Baptist church. Seyielenuo Mezhü, CJM cum Secretary DLSA Mon spoke on the significance of the day. Angun, Panel Lawyer spoke on various sub-topic on Women's rights and also shared the "Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme 2012".
Wokha: Wokha DLSA Para Legal Volunteers identified widows from Wokha, Englan Range -Sub division Wokha and went door to door sensitizing them on various schemes including widow pension schemes. Basic nutritional food and first aid were also distributed to the beneficiaries.
Tuensang: Tuensang DLSA observed women's day with District Hospital. The programme was attended by District Doctors, Staff Nurses and Nurse Trainees at District Hospital Chapal hall Tuensang.
Phek: Phek DLSA in collaboration with Chakhesang Mother’s Association and District Administration (Mahila Shakti Kendra-BBBP) observed the women’s day at Phek Town. The programme was graced by Neiba Kronu, Minister for Planning and Co-Ordination, and Revenue, Parliamentary Affairs and Kuzholuzo Neinu, MLA. Sano Vamuzo, Former Chairperson, Nagaland State Commission for Women and Mikha Lomi, President of the Chakhesang Public Organisation also addressed gathering. Bhavani Sri N, IAS SDO(C) and Nodal Officer for BBBP spoke on the achievements of BBBP.
In the second session, Mezivolu T. Therieh, NJS, District and Sessions Judge and Chairperson, Phek DLSA addressed the gathering. Mother’s Choir of Phek Town Baptist Church presented special song and Mission Compound Colony, Phek women group presented a folk song. Panel Lawyers and PLVs of Phek DLSA manned a stall and distributed legal pamphlets to more than 800 women who came from 79 villages and 7 Town Areas under Phek District.
Kohima: Kohima DLSA on March 9 celebrated Woman Day at AMK, Building Kohima. Kevinourheno Seyie President, AMK addressed the event; keynote address was delivered by Phuleto Yeptho, Secretary Kohima DLSA, followed by topic presentation on Constitutional Provisions for Women by Nagali Shohe Panel Lawyer Kohima DLSA; Senior Citizen was shared by Keduvi Zhotso Panel Lawyer Kohima DLSA; n Domestic Violence and POCSO were shared by Vimeno Nakhro Panel Lawyer Kohima DLSA.
