Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): The Dimapur Langpangkong Senso Telungjem (DLST), on Sunday, cleaned and renovated the clock tower cum free public drinking water booth located near the entrance to New Market Dimapur.
The DLST also undertook filter servicing of the booth and washed the tank. There are plans to construct a flower garden around the tower, it added.

The DLST constructed the tower in commemoration of its golden jubilee in the year 2018 in collaboration with the Dimapur Municipal Council.
Since then, the jubilee clock tower has become not only a beautiful landscape in the city but also an important free filtered drinking water point for people, especially during the scorching summer heat in Dimapur, it said.

However, the union regretted that people are throwing garbage, making the ‘beautiful city landscape’ a public eyesore.
It is also discouraging that even food carts are parked there all day, disregarding the local community's contribution to the betterment of Dimapur, it added.
Nevertheless, the DLST maintained that it undertook the cleaning and renovation as part of the maintenance of the public utility centre and its commitment to the well-being of the city and its people.
