
Dimapur, December 20 (MExN): A cesspool truck belonging to the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) along with the driver and three labours were apprehended by New Chumukedima Village Youth Society (NCVYS) while disposing cesspool waste beside the highway at New Chumukedima on December 20, informed a press release from NCVYS.
The president of NCVYS, Dolhoubeizo Hama noted that despite prohibitory warning issued by New Chumukedima Village Council and the Youth Society on earlier occasion to desist from dumping of waste and carcasses of livestock and garbage beside the highway and in the River Chathe, “unheeding” livestock dealers have been dumping carcass of chicken, pigs etc, and the villagers and the entire commuters/travellers/wayfarers are made to bear the stench of the rotting carcasses.
The village leaders have taken strong exception of the hazardous practice and have warned of stern and prompt action to those caught in the act, according to the release. NCVYS asserted the New Chumukedima youths will remain vigilant and also requested public to report such activity they come across.
The village youth body also expressed dismay with the municipality “indulging in hazardous practice who are otherwise entrusted with the healthy well-being of the society.”
The DMC personnel were handed over to the Medziphema Police Station.
