Dimapur, July 7 (MExN): The chairperson of the Dimapur Municipal Council today reacted to the claim of one Inobu Assumi, who was arrested yesterday, that he is a younger brother of the former. Inobu Assumi was arrested by the Dimapur police for extorting and claimed to be a brother of DMC chairperson K Khekaho Assumi.“…I would like to confirm to all the public that Mr. Inobu Assumi, the accused arrested from Plaza Bakery for extortion, is neither the son of my father Mr. Kheshepu Assumi of Litami village, nor is he my younger brother. The accused was once being adopted by my father purely based on humanitarian ground but he is not related to the family either by blood or by birth and that he was long being disowned by my family due to his perpetual involvement in anti-social activities,” Khekaho said in his rejoinder. The DMC chief declared to all in concern that no family member of Kheshepu Assumi should be held responsible for any act committed by Inobu Assumi. The Media was also advised by the councilor to “first confirm the facts and figures before publishing.” The reports were however, it must be mentioned, carried on information as provided by the police.
