Dimapur, November 25 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has issued a set of directives for all commercial and residential establishments to ensure a clean, vibrant and festive city for the upcoming Hornbill Festival, Christmas, and New Year 2025.
The order, issued on Tuesday, follows discussions with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Dimapur held on November 24, it stated in a press release.
As per the directives, all shops, business establishments, commercial buildings, and residential colonies must ensure proper whitewashing and painting of their premises. The DMC has recommended painting shutters and doors blue for uniformity and an enhanced civic appearance.
Furthermore, all entities have been directed to decorate and illuminate their premises with low-energy-consumption decorative lights or colourful bulbs on or before November 30, 2025, to enhance the festive ambience.
The DMC has also announced a special social work and cleanliness drive to be undertaken by all business establishments and colonies under its jurisdiction on November 29 from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, with active participation directed for all concerned.
The civic body stated that the cooperation of all stakeholders is essential for presenting a clean and festive Dimapur. It cautioned that non-compliance will invite appropriate action under the relevant provisions of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, and other applicable guidelines.
