Dimapur, November 18 (MExN): In an effort to curb illegal littering and improve waste management, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has issued an order requiring all shopkeepers within its jurisdiction to use designated waste bins provided by the council. The directive, signed by Chief Executive Officer Thungchanbemo Tungoi, comes in response to repeated violations of earlier instructions for shop owners to maintain waste bins. The DMC noted rampant littering and improper garbage disposal near shops and in colony areas. To address the issue, the DMC Sanitation Committee has been authorized to distribute waste bins bearing the DMC logo to shopkeepers who are not in compliance. The order is effective immediately. Shopkeepers have been urged to cooperate with the initiative to maintain cleanliness and support better waste management in the town.
DMC directs to prepare for Christmas season
