DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 13 (MExN): In pursuance of the notification from the Urban Development department, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has directed all the business establishments/commercial institutions/traders/dealers of single-use plastic/shopkeepers under DMC jurisdiction to stop using/selling single-use plastic. In this connection, the DMC has given time to all the business establishments/commercial institutions/traders/dealers till September 30 to dispose of their respective old stocks, if any, and on expiry of the stipulated period, necessary checking will be conducted and defaulters shall be penalized a per provision of law. Meanwhile, the DMC informed that it is in the process of introducing bio-degradable eco-friendly carry bags in the market for the convenience of all business people and general public to be used as an alternative to single-use plastic.
