DMI St Joseph Global School raise awareness on effects of tobacco

Dimapur, October 27 (MExN): With a view to create awareness on the ill-effects of tobacco-related products, DMI St Joseph Global School, Dimapur organized an awareness-cum-counseling session for the students of Class VI-IX on October 25.

Resource person, Tolino V Zhimomi, Head of Social Science Department delivered a power-point presentation with related videos about the cancerous effects of tobacco-related products.

She put forward the facts about how young children and youth are falling prey to such products at a very young age. Every day thousands of people die of tobacco and that should not happen to one of them, she added. 

Principal, T Backiyaraj stressed that the school has been organizing a lot of counseling sessions and awareness sessions as part of the school assembly and moral values classes in the school periodically. Today the school has become a tobacco-free campus, which happened due to the constant counseling and awareness sessions by the school, the Principal added. 

Administrator, Stella stated that she has been giving constant counseling to girl students staying in the hostel about the ill-effects of tobacco. 

After the presentation, the students had personal counseling followed by vote of thanks.
