Dmr Police informs autorickshaw owners & drivers to process identification display cards

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 20 (MExN): The Dimapur Police has directed all auto rickshaw owners and drivers operating within Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts to report to the office of the DCP (Traffic) Dimapur, for processing and issuance of auto rickshaw identification display cards, which are to be compulsorily pasted on the auto rickshaw. 

A press release from the PRO Dimapur Police informed that the concerned are required to bring necessary and updated vehicle documents, permits, driving license, Aadhaar card, permanent and temporary address proof of both owners and driver, 3 latest passport photos of drivers and 1 passport photo of the owner.

In case of detection of any fabricated or forged permanent/temporary residence certificates, the concerned village/colony authorities shall be held solely responsible, it added. The last date for issuing of such cards will be November 30. 

Thereafter any auto rickshaw found plying without a display card shall be impounded until its owner/driver submits the required valid documents for the issue of an auto rickshaw identification display card, the police said. These display cards will be valid for a period of 2 years from the date of issue after which a fresh display card will need to be re-issued. All records obtained from the above mentioned documents will be digitally stored and regularly updated every two years or as and when ownership of autorickshaw changes/ auto drivers are replaced. It is the responsibility of the autorickshaw owners to provide the necessary details in case of any such changes.  

The police further appealed to all auto rickshaw owners/drivers and the Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers Union (DDADU) to fully co-operate with the concerned authorities for the smooth implementation of this new system in the larger interest of public convenience and safety.
