
DIMAPUR, JUNE 22 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) and All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) after a consultative meeting held along with its units has resolved to tackle various issues confronting the students’ community in particular and the society in general.
According to a joint press statement issued by the DNSU and ANCSU presidents, Sedevilie Angami and Katho P Awomi, the two students’ body urged the state government to have a serious approach towards the issues raised by the unions on various occasions.
The students’ body seriously deliberated on the threat of "illegal immigrants" and resolved to strongly fight against the influx the same by extending unflinching support to the Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) and Naga Students’ Federation (NSF).
At the same time, it also appealed the Naga indigenous inhabitants not to practice benami business transaction with the non locals (which is a punishable offence under the law) particularly within the ambit of Dimapur district, as it has drastically affected the Naga economy and encourages the "influx of illegal immigrants".
While considering the “unwanted situations that has confronted the Naga society due to selfish vested interest individuals,” the two student bodies vowed to strictly monitor on such ill practices affecting the future of the Nagas.
It also appealed the students not to indulge in any immoral activities which may tarnish the image of the students’ community. The DNSU and ANCSU also said it shall “in all means retaliate to any authority/groups/individuals whose act may hamper the interest of students and the society.”
