
Dimapur, June 20 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) in a press note stated that its attention has been drawn by allegation leveled by the Manipuri Meitei Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) of collecting Rs 25,000 /- from certain Manipur bound trucks from Dimapur. “The allegation is wild imagination and an act of desperation of Meiteis who are anti peace crusaders” stated DNSU in the note and further demanded from TDC to furnish proofs and evidence within 72 Hours to its office.
DNSU also stated that the Meiteis has been capitalizing the blocked issue and propounded the issue out of proportions to woo central government for extra financial help by showing bad pictures of Nagas democratic resisting against the “ anti-hill people enacted”.
The union also stated in the note: “Nagas which had suffered enough under the dominant Meiteis for so long. The crux of the problem lies in the District Council Act that attempts to snatch away the birth rights of the Nagas by the Meiteis. The Desperation of Meiteis started visible after the blockade were temporarily relax by the Nagas, pitying their conditions as this relaxation broke the bargaining mechanisms of Meiteis to the central government.”
DNSU in the note stated that it shall leave no stone un-turned to take actions against any of its member(s) if involved but it shall initiate befitting against the TDC members who are demanding trouble from the Nagas if they fail to substantiate their claim.
The DNSU also call upon press and print media fraternity across the nation to first ascertain the facts before the publications especially on the volatile issues that the Meites always up the news to draw mileage out of it. The Union, resolved that failure on the part of the Transporters’ and Drivers’ Council (TDC) to prove it’s report within the stipulated time, the Union will take its own course of action for which any consequences the Union will not be held responsible.
