DNSU demands urgent reconstruction of Dimapur Government College campus wall

Dimapur, October 31 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has voiced serious concern over the collapsed boundary wall of Dimapur Government College, which, despite being built in 2022, fell within a few months of construction. The DNSU condemned the lack of response from the concerned department, noting that repeated appeals from the college students have yet to yield any tangible action to restore the structure and safeguard the campus.

In a statement, the DNSU criticized the apparent governmental apathy towards student welfare, stressing that the collapsed wall endangers the security of students, particularly those residing in the college’s boys' and girls' hostels. According to the union, the absence of the boundary wall has made it difficult to regulate unauthorized entry, which has compromised the college's ability to host events securely.

Adding to the urgency, the DNSU highlighted a recent incident on October 10 involving physical assault and extortion on campus, which they say underscores the need for immediate action to address security concerns. "We urge the state government and the education department to promptly rebuild the boundary wall and address broader security needs to ensure a safe environment for all students," stated DNSU General Secretary Michael Kath.

The DNSU warned that continued inaction would leave them with no choice but to initiate a democratic protest, joining forces with the students if necessary, to demand swift restoration and enhanced security measures on campus.
