Do not forsake Chessore, CAPF appeals Govt

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 2 (MExN): The Chessore Area Public Forum (CAPF) has expressed outrage over the apathy of the Nagaland State Government towards Chessore town in Tuensang district.

“Chessore, which is the oldest town in Nagaland, today can be termed as one of the most ignored town. It still exists in a primitive stage due to the lackadaisical attitude of the State Government,” CAPF president Akhum and general secretary Keyoungkhum K. said on Sunday.

Listing out instances of their primordial existence, CAPF said the Government High School was run without any Math and Science teacher for the past one and half year. Not a single chapter on the two subjects has been started and this has put the careers of the students at stake, the Forum revealed.

The Forum also lamented that since the past one and half month, Chessore town has been reeling under darkness after the damage of the town’s transformer on July 16, 2016 and there was no intervention forthcoming from the concerned department. Adding to the countless woes arising due to lack of electricity, it further hindered in the preparation of the Chessore Town Baptist Church 50 year jubilee celebration, to be held in December, the Forum stated.

Besides, the Forum said there was no doctor or a pharmacist at the Chessore Primary Health Care and the town was also a witness to one of the most deplorable road- with the lone road connectivity to Tuensang via Helipong becoming un-motorable for 2-3 months during monsoon.

Seeking immediate intervention from the Nagaland Chief Minister, the Forum has appealed the State Government and the representative of Tuensang 58AC “not to forsake the citizens of Chessore of their rights.”
