Nagaland Timber Union to meet on June 20
DIMAPUR, June 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Timber Traders’ Union (NTTU) has convened an emergency meeting with all district units on June 20 at 10:00 am at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur, to deliberate on agendas which could not be resolved in the previous sessions. NTTU president, Kevise Angami, through a press release has requested all NTTU office bearers and unit representatives to attend the meeting.
Meanwhile, the NTTU has said the construction of a diversion road, near the weak bridge between Messulimi and Yoseba, by the Phek District Timber Association (PDTA), had benefited all vehicles plying on the route. The Union informed that earlier, due to the dilapidated condition of the bridge, heavy vehicles carrying essential commodities to Phek district headquarters, Meluri and Kiphire district were halted at Pfütsero, while trucks carrying timber were halted at Lanye police gate.
“However, with the construction of the diversion road by PDTA at their own expense and with some help from well-wishers, heavy vehicles can now ply from both ends of the road, thereby bringing relief to public of two districts as well as timber dealers,” the NTTU stated. While urging the public, government officials and drivers to cooperate with the PDTA in maintaining the diversion road, the Union also appealed to all concerned not to hinder the flow of trucks carrying timber on the said road.
