Dimapur, Feb 8 (MExN): The Apollo Hospitals Chennai will be having consultative interactions on dermatological (skin-related) problems in Dimapur at regular intervals. As a follow-up to the interactive sessions which was started sometime back, Dr GR Ratnavel, renowned Dermatologist & Cosmetologist, held medical consultations with patients with dermatological problems, at the MICE office at Plaza Point Dimapur today. The consultations would be on rotation bases for three months.
Interacting with mediapersons Dr Ratnavel observed that about 70% of the people in Nagaland were undergoing different skin problems with white patches and acne-marks as the commonest forms and that there were little or no information regarding the availability of treatments. He enlightened on the various treatments available like surgery, Micro-crafting and punching, Liposuction and chemical peeling for different skin ailments.
“Many people here in Nagaland are not aware of the different and advanced skin treatments available. Many of them are safe and can cure these ailments with a high level of results” Dr Ratnavel. It can be anything from treating lines and wrinkles to removing excess fat from the body, he said adding that any problem of the skin can be cured to perfection with the help of modern cosmetological surgeries.
Elaborating further he said that treatments like chemical peeling to remove black patches from the face, electro-surgery to remove unwanted body growths, electrosis to remove unwanted hairs, Iontophoresis for curing sweating palms and soles, are simple and low-cost methods for solutions to poor skin conditions. For instance, the problem of unwanted growth on the skin by cancerous tissue is curable using liquid nitrogen spray which attains a temperature of 196% thus arresting any growth.
“The most popular discipline of cosmetology amongst women is Botox and fillers. It is a simple injection procedure used to remove wrinkles over the face as well as increasing the size of the breast by 20 to 30%. Liposuction is also one method to remove excess amount of fat” Dr Ratnavel said. He also informed that all surgical procedures were just out-patient methods. It is not necessary to be admitted in a hospital for treatments, he added.

During his visit Dr Ratnavel has consulted a good number of patients with skin problems at the Apollo Information Center and informed that he plans to visit Dimapur at regular intervals.
