Documentaries on biodiversity ecosystem services and climate change released

Morung Express News Kohima | November 14   'One Story, Different Voices' and 'The Gift of winter'- two short documentaries on biodiversity ecosystem services and climate change were released on November 13 at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.   With the aim to create awareness and educate the Naga women farmers, the two documentaries film were made as part of the participatory videos of the 17-day training for the Naga women farmers and ALMA members at Khonoma village. The training was organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft Fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), in collaboration with its partners in India for sustainable economic ecological and social development.   "The main objective of making the participatory videos is to disseminate the rich traditional knowledge of Naga women in farming to others, to exchange knowledge and ideas, on how to combat climate change, maintain biodiversity through traditional methods of farming and to replicate them in their method of farming," said Dr. Cressida Jamir, State coordinator GIZ CCA-NER, Nagaland in her address who also informed that the participants were from six districts of the state namely Mokokchung, Wokha, Peren, Phek and Kohima.   According to the organisers, the participatory video making project is an intercommunity dialogue aimed at engaging women farmers of Nagaland which was conducted using film as a medium. The workshop enabled the participants learn how to make a film, starting from deciding on the topic to filming and editing.The resource persons for the project were directors of Glocal Films London Kerstin Rickermann and Silke Beller while assistance were also provided by the crew members of Dreamz Unlimited.
