Documentary from Nagaland screened at GIYSCC 2025

‘Dala Dala – They are Calling the Rain’, a short documentary from Nagaland produced by Betoka Swu for HIYOHEY Nagaland in collaboration with the Chishilimi Cultural Troupe, was screened on August 9 at the third Global Indigenous Youth Summit on Climate Change (GIYSCC-2025).

The summit, hosted by Future Earth with Science Diplomacy Center coordination, is being held virtually across three 8-hour time zones in 24 hours (00:00 GMT–24:00 GMT) to mark the United Nations International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. It is organised in collaboration with the Africa and Asia Regional Chapters of the International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA), along with other key partners.

Described as a “virtual dialogue by, for and among Indigenous youth with global inclusion,” GIYSCC-2025 builds on the 2023 and 2024 editions. The first two summits involved over 2,100 registrants from 136 nations, representing nearly 290 languages, during the International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022–2032.

A legacy from GIYSCC-2023 was the invited Nature commentary titled Indigenous Youth Must Be at the Forefront of Climate Diplomacy, advocating for a Global Partnership of Indigenous Youth in the spirit of SDG 17, with a planetary focus on Climate Action (SDG 13).
