Kohima, November 30 (MExN): The farewell programme for the outgoing Director, Kuholi Chishi was held on November 28 in the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Higher Education. Temjen Imna Along, the Minister of Higher & Technical Education was the guest of honour.
A press release stated here that the programme was chaired by the Additional Director, Dr. Anungla Aier. She welcomed the gathering and gave a brief career profile of the outgoing Director who has served the Department for the past 35 years. Kuholi Chishi joined Nagaland Government Services as a lecturer at Fazl Ali College in 1993 where she served both as a lecturer and as Principal till June, 2013. Later, she served as the Principal of Dimapur Government College for two and a half years. Eventually, she joined the Directorate as the Additional Director and in May 2017 became the Director of the department. Throughout her career as an academician and administrator, she contributed immensely to the growth of Higher Education.
The Minister in his speech referred to the Director as a ‘friend, a mother, a shining star and a woman who stands for what she believes in.’ He alluded to her as the initiator of the trajectory of growth in the Higher Education sector. He expressed his hope that she would continue rendering her services to the society as values cannot be undermined by retirement.
In her farewell speech, the Director thanked the Minister, the Secretariat officials, the Directorate staff, family members and all well-wishers for being a part of her professional journey. She attributed her success to her parents who had provided her a very strong educational foundation. She encouraged the department to raise the standard of Higher Education and the officers to grow professionally.
Earlier, invocation was pronounced by Dr. Apeni Lotha. Speeches were given by the Joint Secretary (H&TE), Joint Director and Registrar of Higher Education, Principals of Fazl Ali College and St. Jospeh College, Jakhama and Pito Samuel Sumi. Special numbers were rendered by Medongulie Tseikha, Topeni Chishi, Meren and Krawbor and John and Co. The program ended with a mass prayer followed by a feast hosted by the outgoing Director.
