Don Bosco College NSS unit camps at Rüsoma

Kohima, April 23 (MExN): NSS unit of Don Bosco College, Kohima, began its special camp in the adopted village, Rüsoma from April 22. This special camp is organised in collaboration with Department of Youth Resources & Sports - Government of Nagaland and Peace channel.  

Don Bosco College in a press release issued by its principal stated that the main theme for this camp is ‘Swachh Bharat.’  

The inaugural function was held on April 23 in the Rüsoma Village community hall. Chief guest Prof. R.C. Gupta, Pro Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Merima Campus, hoisted the NSS flag. In his speech, the Professor stated that serving society is serving the nation which is ultimately serving God. He encouraged the NSS volunteers to go to remote village to promote organic farming.  

Pinky Sagolsem, NSS programme office in the welcome address highlighted the proposed programs of the camp. Program was compered by NSS unit President, Angela. The chairman of the village and several village people attended the function. Village authorities welcomed the team of volunteers into their village and assured them all sorts of co-operation needed in making the special camp a success.  

During the afternoon session the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority taught the NSS volunteers how to tackle situations during natural disaster or manmade disaster. This was followed by first training programme by Dr. Victoria Seb of Vital family clinic.
