Don Bosco ‘compassion channel’ reaches out to Chedema

Kohima, August 4 (MExN): The NSS unit of Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK) launched a “Compassion Channel” under the leadership of Dr Kiyasetuo Stephen Vizo.

On July 31, the members of the Compassion Channel reached out to children of Chedema village by contributing books, stationeries, water filters and clothes to the students of the two primary schools at Chedema under the guidance of DBCK, NSS president, Elivi Swu and Chedema Village Students’ Union (CVSU) President Menubeilie Penyü, CVSU General Secretary Rokosevituo and CVSU games & sports Secretary Keyhoviu.

A press release from DBCK stated it was created to create a platform for NSS volunteers to ‘earn while learning’ and give them the opportunity to give back to the NSS adopted village Chedema. 

There were five groups, with overall 16 members, who volunteered to work under the Compassion Channel.  Each group came up with different creative activities, like authoring books, baking cakes, selling flowers, selling clothes, lottery, so as to earn their profit in various ways.

A talk on the introduction of the Compassion Channel was delivered by Kevisezo while Hutweateung talked on ‘cleanliness.’

Gifts were distributed among the primary school students.  The staffs of the primary schools Kelezhatuo and Kezhakhonuo appreciated the NSS volunteers for their compassionate work towards the students.
