Dimapur, April 13 (MExN): Don Bosco Tech 8th batch inaugural function cum parents’ meet was held on April 12 at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Kohima.
Rev. Fr. Thomas, MP SDB, Director of Salesian Novitiate, Sechü-Zubza and former Provincial of Dimapur Province inaugurated the programme. In his speech, Fr. Thomas said, “Don Bosco Tech all over India, particularly in Nagaland, is making a difference in our society. Many youths, dropouts from schools and colleges and are unemployed, find job opportunities that DB Tech is offering. Don Bosco Youth Centre, Kohima, also through Don Bosco tech skill training and job opportunities, is helping many young people to be dignified and stand on their own feet.” He further said that every work is dignified, and young people should be a little more patient in the course of the training and later in work places.
Andrew Gangmei, DB Tech State Coordinator, Dimapur, who was a special guest, informed the trainees and their parents that earlier Don Bosco Tech had to go to the companies, but now the companies approach Don Bosco Tech because of its quality and impact created through skill training and job placements in over 175 centres in India. He exhorted the trainees to take up the challenge of skilling themselves well in the training and get good job placements in any part of India.
Rev. Fr. Ranjan Toppo, SDB, Vice-Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima in his exhortation, asked the trainees to live by good and true values of life and not by any values taught by the modern world. Fr. Athishu Anthony SDB, welcomed everyone present for the programme. He informed that for the past three years, since July 2010, over 300 young people have passed out from Don Bosco Youth Centre, Kohima, through the Don Bosco Tech three-month training and are placed with jobs.
In the present 8th batch of the training another 34 students are being trained. The programme concluded with the interaction session of the student’s parent with the Don Bosco Tech staff, regarding the skill training, job placements and security of the students in their work places.
