Dimapur, February 18 (MExN): The batch 24 of skill development training for unemployed youth was inaugurated at Don Bosco Tech AIDA Centre here on February 17 with Johnny Ruangmei, OSD, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority as the chief guest.
Johnny lauded the initiative by Don Bosco Tech to provide skill training to dropouts in the field of hospitality – food and beverage service and beauty and wellness. “It is praiseworthy that these dropouts become employable and in demand across the world,” he stated.
A press release from Regina Pamma Karai, Coordinator, Don Bosco Tech AIDA Centre further informed that the chief guest encouraged the trainees to be creative and use ideas. “Whether you are a matriculate or a doctorate degree holder it is important to get trained in a specific field. Skill is what matters today. That will help you to start your own business tomorrow,” he added.
Anita Kuphu, the state coordinator (Placement) meanwhile informed that Don Bosco Society works for the development and education of the young, especially those most at risk through its schools, colleges, universities, technical schools and youth centres and many more interventions.
She further highlighted the Unique Selling Proposition of Don Bosco Tech such as “regular assessment of trainees through weekly tests and monthly assessment, parent meetings, 8-hour training daily for 6 days a week, training in basic computing, communicative English and soft skills besides the domain training involving practical and theoretical input along with industrial visits and guest lectures.”
Trainees are assessed and certified by external assessment agency at the end of the training, it was informed. She also told the gathering that “at least 13 past trainees of AIDA Centre are working overseas and some of them earn over Rs. 2 lakhs per month.”

Batch 24 of the skill development training for unemployed youth started on January 22 with 64 trainees from 18 different tribes of North East. Training is imparted in hospitality – food and beverage service and assistant beauty therapist.
