‘Don’t Blame congress over failed promises’

Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today came out strongly against some purported statement made by state Chief Minster, Neiphiu Rio that the Congress is making attempts to sabotage and topple the NPF led DAN coalition Government in the state, and said that the NPF led Dan leaders are pouring out their anger at the Congress for their failure to fulfill their promises made to the people.

Vitsorel Lcho, Member of NPCC media Cell, in a press release in this regard, termed the purported accusations of Neiphiu Rio as totally ‘misleading’ since the ‘NPF led DAN has no been running the Government comfortably because of the instability created within the coalition members’ and added that such instability cannot be blamed on the Congress.

“The Congress Party has allowed the DAN Government to deliver whatever promises they have made to the people without disturbances for the last more that four years, but when they fail to meet the expectation of the people they are now shifting their failures on the Congress,” Lcho said.

“The DAN leaders should not be too apprehensive on the Congress to predict their downfall rather the people will decide and the time is not far away for the General Election 2008,” said Lcho.

The NPCC further said that the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio seems to be a ‘disturbed person’ when he is still trying to bring out the issue of “Office of Profit’ which is a closed chapter before the Election Commission of India,

“There may be no end for greed of power but one must realize whatever we do on earth should not deviate from one’s believe in God. The NPF led DAN leader, N Rio for the sake of holding power for another term said that his ‘hope on earth is politics,’” said the Lcho in the press release.

The NPCC also said that the NPF led Dan leaders are pouring out their anger at the Congress during inaugural functions rather that celebrating the completions of the work they have done and asked the DAN government leaders not to blame to congress for their failure to fulfill their promises made to the people.

Vitsorel Lcho, in the press release mocked that the ‘NPF led DAN leaders declared 2007 to be the year of inauguration but while attending inaugural functions instead of celebrating they are only pouring out their angers on the Congress,’ he said.

Lcho said that the achievements ‘claimed’ by the DAN Government leaders were initiated during the tenure of  Congress rule and that whatever programmes are there for development is coming through the Congress led UPA government at the centre.

“Compared to the NDA Government’s time the special package given to State without fund provision by the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee the people are yet  to see the fulfillment of promise,” said Lcho and added that the DAN Government should be grateful to the state Congress leaders through whose initiatives developmental works are reaching to the state.

In this regard, Lcho cited an instance of the National Rural Employment Guaranteed Scheme and said that it was initially introduced only in Mon district but the that the matter was persuaded by the State Congress leaders and now to be implemented in all the districts.

Speaking about the next general elections, Lcho said that the NPF led DAN government seems to be attacking the congress with a view that the coalition partners are going to fight together against the Congress in the next General Election. However, Lcho said that in the coalition DAN government, the BJP with its ‘Hindutva’ policy was deprived to have a seat adjustment with NPF in the last bye-elections and added that somehow the party could manage only marginal votes in the recent Presidential election.

“The NPCC reminds the NPF led DAN leaders not to expose their immaturity by blaming the Congress for failing to fulfill their promises made to the people,” said Loch.
