The Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio  today appealed the citizen of the state not to panic but to cooperate and follow advisories issued by the government.

Taking to twitter on Tuesday evening, Rio said that “the government has taken predetermined steps in combating prevention of COVID-19 outbreak in Nagaland.”

“I appeal to all not to panic but continue to cooperate and follow advisories issued by the govt. Be assured that the government is in control and together we can fight it,” he added.

The first consignment of equipment for setting-up biosafety level (BSL) lab  along with the technicians will reach Nagaland in a day or two and work will begin on war footing, he added.

This was the Chief Minister’s first reaction after a patient from Dimapur tested positive for COVID -19 in Guwahati on April 12.  Consequently, the state government’s preparedness has been subjected to intense scrutiny after the confirmation.

Meanwhile, Rio also also lauded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the lockdown till May 3 “as requested during video-conference.”
