A much-awaited door-to-door garbage collection car for the colony was flagged off today at Fellowship Colony, Dimapur.   In a novel initiative, the vehicle - a Micro truck, Tata Ace Zip, was donated by Arep Changkija, the Council Chairman of the colony to ease the problem of garbage disposal and collection in the area.

At a brief launching programme organized by the colony council, the vehicle was flagged off by the senior-most citizen of the colony Dr. Temsu Jamir and dedicated by DABA Associate Pastor Imnatoshi Longkumer.

Lauding the deed of the donor, the pastor said that such initiative must be a one of a kind in the State and would serve as a model in other places across the State.

“As you dispose off the dirt from your house each week, cleanse your heart alongside and be a model citizen,” Imnatoshi further urged the gathering.   Since March 2016, the garbage collection in the colony was done through a manually operated cycle, with monthly collection from the residents.

For the current initiative, a driver and an assistant have been engaged by the colony to collect the garbage from each residence regularly and their salaries will be borne by the residents.
