The Directorate of School Education, Nagaland today accorded farewell to Shanavas C, outgoing Principal Director, School Education. Shanavas will soon join his new assignment as Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion, Shanavas valued the tremendous amount of cooperation and support he received from each and every individual during his 3 years stint in the department. He called upon the officers and staff to respond to the various challenges ahead and take the department to greater heights.
Stating that many issues need be addressed, he called upon the officers and staff to exercise ‘team spirit’ and focus on long term solutions. “We have to take the lead and change the education system in Nagaland,” he said.
Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary for School Education & SCERT lauded Shanavas for his bold step towards changing the educational scenario in Nagaland. Under him, the department was able to streamline many areas, she said. She described him as outstanding officer and sociable, who does not discriminate anyone.
Temsunaro Aier, State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha described Shanavas as a rare personality, who tackles things with ease. He stood tall in whatever decision was taken by him and was always ready to shoulder any responsibility, Aier added.
Further, she thanked him for connecting the department to international agencies and various ministries for holistic education in Nagaland.
Wonthungo Tsopoe, Director, School Education; Avelu Ruho, Deputy Project Director (NECTAR); Dr Zavise Rume, Professor SCERT & President, Nagaland Education Association; and Asano Sekhose, Chairperson, Nagaland Board of School Education also spoke on the occasion. Razoukhoyi Rhakho spoke on behalf of the Ministerial Staff Association.
They thanked Shanavas for his valuable contribution and wished him all success in his new assignment.
The programme was chaired by Razouseyi Vese, Additional Director, School Education. Meanwhile, Thavaseelan K, IAS will soon take charge as new Principal Director of School Education.
