Dimapur July 16 (MExN): The newly inducted office bearers of the Land-owners’ Union, Doyang Hydro Electric Project, Doyang under Wokha district, met the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha at his official residence on July 12 and conveyed the union’s positive objectives and concern towards all the developmental activities to be taken under by the union.
The team led by the union’s president O Mozamo Ngullie assured the Deputy Commissioner that it would work earnestly for peace and tranquility in the project area, undertake voluntary and self-help activities as well as to approach and seek assistance from the district administration, state Government, NEEPCO and Central Government ministries to take up larger-scale development programs for the uplift of the affected villagers and displaced people of the hydro-project. The Deputy Commissioner was assured that the union and the villages would extend all possible cooperation to the project staffers of DHEP/NEEPCO, so that the only major power project of the state would function normally and peacefully apart from ushering more development in the area. The union people will look after the welfare of the displaced people with equality of opportunity in all matters as well.
The team also expressed appreciation on the achievements of the DHEP for winning the award of excellence from NEEPCO last year for being “the best and biggest achiever of all projects of NEEPCO Ltd.” The union was of the opinion that it would have been more appropriate to appreciate the achievements of the project staff rather than taking up activities which would retard the progress of DHEP as well as discourage coming up of such more new projects in the state.
The Doyang Land Owners’ Union also expressed gratitude to the District Administration and the Government of Nagaland as the achievement of DHEP could be made possible with the needful cooperation and assistance by the government. The union further thanked the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha for his valuable encouragement and assurances to work in coordination for all-round progress of DHEP and understanding the objectives of the union.
