Dimapur, April 25 (MExN): C. Kipili Sangtam, Parliamentary Secretary addressing the DPDB Kiphire meeting April 24 at the DC conference Hall stressed on the need of government servants for re-dedicating themselves to the service of the people. The meeting was chaired by Kevekha Kevin Zehol, SDO (Civil), Kiphire.
While observing that Kiphire town is progressing by leaps and bounds the PS took note of the haphazard manner buildings were coming up. Sangtam suggested that any building construction should be taken only with prior approval from competent authorities. Such measures will arrest encroachment into public places like roads etc and also beautify the town, he maintained. Reaffirming sincere commitment to the people of the district, Kipili Sangtam said that he had encouraged and also financially helped genuine NGOs/firms like Career Counseling, Kiphire, Consumer Forum etc. who according to the PS, are genuinely endeavoring to further the cause of the people.
While acknowledging the various handicap and constraints faced by officers posted to this budding district, Sangtam called upon the public servants to take it as challenge and leave footprints during their stay in Kiphire. Sangtam assured that he along with colleague T Torechu would stand ‘behind the officers’ while pursuing proposals. He further requested a copy of proposals be forwarded to him and his colleague so that it will be a joint effort. Sangtam added that Kiphire district, rich in natural resources will one day be the wealth house of the people of Nagaland if pursued in right earnest.
While adding that the DPDB is the apex decision making entity of the district, the PS called upon officers to be regular and should not simply give mere reasons to abstain from the activities of the DPDB. He further requested the head of the departments at Kiphire not to send their representatives but to attend the meeting in person.
T Torechu, Chairman DPDB Kiphire and MLA while admitting maximum problems faced by officers like unavailability of proper accommodation, also called upon the officers to take it as challenge and work with dedication for the people of the district. He said, “You may not gain any material benefit, but the blessing of this district will follow you even in the years to come”, and requested the officers to be present in their places of posting. He further challenged the officers to pick up remote villages whether motorable or non-motorable, visit and educate them, forward proposals for their development etc since these villagers are ignorant and they on their own do not even know how to submit proposals. “Whatever the infrastructure constraints are, please work with commitment and dedication and uplift the people of this area”. Torechu also asked officers who have not enrolled themselves in the IRCS to enroll and join the great humanitarian service. Reacting to erring officers, he assured that the matter would be taken up with Administrative heads and Head of Departments against defaulting officers.
The agenda for the day were Creation of an Anganwadi center at Nikiye village, Geological information system, Proposal for establishing a police outpost at Sitimi and hosting of State Taek-wondo Championship by Kiphire District Taek-wondo Association.
The next DPDB has been fixed for May 8. In the meeting Chairman DPDB Kiphire T Torechu (also an MLA) also welcomed new members namely Sitsathong, DPO, DRDA Office, L Among, BDO Kiphire and Tokulto, BDO Sitimi.
