Five of the seven legislators present in the programme including parliamentary secretary for CAWD, R Tohanba, parliamentary secretary for Prisons, Home Guard, VG, DBs & GBs, Kejong Chang, chairman of Nagaland Bamboo Resource Mission (NBRC), Toyang Changkong Chang, NCP legislators Imtilemba Sangtam and Khumo Khiam, were introduced to the DBDP members and felicitated on the occasion.
Parliamentary secretary for CAWD, R Tohanba, who is also chairman of DPDB Tuensang, in his address expressed gratitude for being elected as chairman of DPDB for the second consecutive term. Expressing optimism that the collective efforts of the DPDB members can bring about positive change and development in the district, he called upon all head of departments and officers posted in the district to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the people, especially rural people.
On the other hand, Tohanba also noted that some department officers rarely attend the monthly DPDB meetings, which in turn discourage other officers in the long run. He urged upon all HoDs and subordinate officers posted in Tuensang to be regular in their respective duties, uphold moral ethics and serve the public with outmost sincerity.
Parliamentary secretary for Prisons, Home Guard, VG, DBs & GBs, Kejong Chang, who is the oldest among the legislators, sought co-operation of HoDs and officers of all departments for speedy development of Tuensang district.
NBRC chairman, Toyang Chang, who represents Tuensang Sadar-1 under which Tuensang town falls, appealed to his co-legislators to give a helping hand in development of Tuensang town even as they perform their responsibilities in their respective constituencies. Toyang also called upon the legislators and DPDB members to have the “spirit of oneness.”
NCP legislator Imtilemba Sangtam stressed on the need to streamline the monthly DPDB meetings in order to make the meetings fruitful and meaningful.
Khumo Khiam, also NCP legislator, urged HoDs and officers to be regular in their duty and place of posting. Khumo said that in many cases, villagers coming from distant and remote areas go back frustrated and demoralized as the officers concerned are always out of station. He said the officers should understand the plight of the rural public and not lose the faith of the public.
The agendas discussed in the DPDB meeting included creation of RD Kongkhum Range under Noksen sub-division, upgradation of Shamator-Chessore Road (second phase of Aghunato-Shamator Road), renovation of approach road to JNV from main road to Chare and improvement of Helipong-Chessore Road.
