Emphasising the values of peace, service and collective responsibility, the Chairman of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Mokokchung and MLA, Nuklutoshi, extended warm Christmas greetings to the people of the district, calling for unity, integrity in public life and renewed commitment toward development. In his message delivered during the DPDB Mokokchung Advent Christmas Celebration at Metsuben Resort, he reminded attendees that the essence of Christmas lies in compassion, humility, and service to one another.

Nuklutoshi noted that development is not only about infrastructure but also about fostering trust and strengthening community relationships. He expressed appreciation to all departments, institutions, churches and community leaders for their contributions toward the district’s progress, while encouraging optimism and responsibility as the district moves into the New Year.

In his welcome address, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, highlighted the significance of the DPDB as a crucial institution for district-level policy building and development. Stressing the importance of participatory and decentralised planning, he urged all departments to bring forward their developmental plans and actively contribute to a long-term district vision.

The Deputy Commissioner also proposed the preparation of a comprehensive “vision document” aligned with the broader development goals of the Government of India and the Government of Nagaland. He underscored the need for cooperative effort from all line departments to shape Mokokchung’s long-term development trajectory, stating that district-level planning must increasingly draw from ground-level feedback for meaningful implementation.

Representing Ao Senden, the General Secretary Imtipokyim delivered seasonal greetings on behalf of the organisation. He thanked the DPDB for including them in the celebration and expressed hope that the occasion would bring encouragement, peace, and renewed community spirit. He highlighted the district’s culture of hospitality and the role of planning and development efforts in ensuring progress for every village, ward and citizen of Mokokchung. He also conveyed optimism under the leadership of the DPDB Chairman and the Deputy Commissioner, stating that their experience and commitment provide confidence for Mokokchung’s continued growth.

The programme also featured a gift exchange while Akangtemsu Yaden, Youth Director of MTBA, shared a Christmas message.
