DPDB Peren approves PPP pilot project at GHS Nsong

PEREN, June 7 (MExN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Peren held its monthly meeting for June at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Peren, under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and DPDB Chairman, T.R. Zeliang.

Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru welcomed the members and introduced new officials: Rongsenmenla Jamir (PD, DRDA Peren), Dr. T. Jamedi Longkumer (Principal, Peren Government College), and L. Imlinnungba Lkr (Superintendent, District Jail, Peren).

Addressing the meeting, Zeliang appreciated the active participation of officers and staff in the recent plantation drive. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the planted saplings, suggesting that future drives focus on a manageable number of plants to ensure proper care and survival. He also proposed that the district identify an ideal timeframe for future plantation activities.

Zeliang further urged departments implementing Centrally Sponsored Schemes to coordinate closely with the District Planning Officer to enhance development outcomes across the district.

Reviewing the previous meeting’s minutes, DC Meru announced that a mass social work initiative would be held on the fourth Friday of every month for departments within the DC Office Complex, requesting active participation.

A key agenda item was a proposal for a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) pilot project at Government High School, Nsong. Dr. Fr. Francis, Principal of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, explained the project’s concept and appealed for support. After deliberation, the board approved the proposal for forwarding to the government.

However, the proposal for registration of the Rural Upliftment Society, Tening Town, was deferred due to the absence of society representatives and a verifying officer.

The meeting also featured a PowerPoint presentation by an official from the Labour Department outlining the department’s activities and initiatives.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks from DC and Vice Chairman, DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru.
