Kiphire | July 27 : Minister for planning co-ordination, evaluation veterinary & animal husbandry and parliamentary affairs, TR Zeliang today inaugurated the newly constructed building of the District Planning Office at Kiphire. He was accompanied by the Parliamentary Secretary CAWD T Torechu, MLA & Chairmen MARCOFED CL John, MLA Toshikokba and MLA & Chairman NSMDC Kipili. The inauguration was attended by host of officers from planning department and Kiphire DPDB members.
Sharing his reflection on vision 2020 the minister said that ‘to achieve this goal one should work towards it and vision 2020 will not come into reality if one sits ideal’ and asked the people in the district to harness the rich resources that is available with them. Touching on article 371(A) about the land and its resources, the minister said that under his chairmanship ways and means are being worked out as to how natural resources should be utilized in Nagaland, where civil societies like “Naga Hoho, NMA also agreed upon but ENPO not willing to participate in this issue is wrong”. The minister also added that ENPO demanding a separate state is a central subject and not a state subject the best state can do is done and the state has recommended autonomous to central government but advised the people to live in reality and work together for the welfare of its people.
Commenting on the rich Agricultural resources in the district, the minister said, “With this abundant resource, feeds for piggery as well as poultry can be set up so that it in turn will uplift the economy of the district.” Citing an example of his people the minister said that at one point of time his people struggle for sovereignty without knowing economic sovereignty which in turn brings no fruit and therefore, asked the people to equip oneself with economic sovereignty. The minister also said that with the inauguration of new DPPO office Kiphire district will be able to take part in the 12 five year planning and encouraged the people to co-operate with the officers for better implementation of work in the department. The minister also added that not even half of the offices have reached the three newly created districts and said it depends upon the people to work for it.
Parliamentary Secretary CAWD T Torechu who spoke on the occasion opined that the district is no more backward as developmental activities have reach every nook and corner of the district and said, “we should all work together to be an agent of change to be at par with the rest of the state.”
Chairman NSMDC Kipili who was also present at the inauguration expressed gratitude to the minister for providing office building to the district. He said that it is the fruit of DAN and requested the people to nurture it well so that we enjoy its fruit.
Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Alemtemshi Jamir who also spoke on the occasion said, ‘The problem of Kiphire should be solved by the people of Kiphire no one else can solve it.” Earlier Deputy Commissioner CM Tsanglao accorded warm welcome to the gathering. R. Tsapikyu Advisor KTC also spoke on the occasion. Evangelical Union Kiphire enthralled the gathering with melodious song. It may be mentioned here that Kiphire is the third district to have a District Planning Office after Mokokchung and Zunheboto.
