Dimapur, August 24 (MExN): Lolano Patton, District Public Relation Officer, Dimapur graced the inaugural session of Education in Basic Vocation and Soft Skills (EBVSS) on August 24 at Youth Hostel, Dimapur.
A DIPR report stated that while addressing the trainees, DPRO, Dimapur maintained that the demand for higher level of skills both in the government and private sector is ever increasing.
The demand has led to further development of vocational education funded by the central as well as state governments and various organisations, she pointed.
She further stated that the selected candidates were the “lucky ones” to undergo basic education in shoe making sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
Patton observed that “education in basic vocation or skill based education enables trainees to acquire skills which directly develop expertise in a particular technique through manual or practical activities.”
United Nations volunteer and District Youth Coordinator, NYK, K Phyobemo Lotha, in his keynote address informed that EBVVS is a core programme of Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
He also apprised that the programme aims to enhance economic status of educated unemployed and rural youth by making them learn specific trades through professional trainers.
The training was organised by NYK, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in association with Youth Welfare Club.
