Students of DPS Dimapur participate in a running race during its annual athletic meet which was held from February 13-17.
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 17 (MExN): The Annual Athletic Meet of Delhi Public School Dimapur for 2023-24 was held from February 13-17 at the school ground. Over 500 students showcased their enthusiasm in a variety of athletic events, shattering previous records and embodying exceptional sportsmanship, zeal and dedication, a press release received from the DPS informed.
Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest. In his address, he urged the students to serve as exemplary role models for other schools and cautioned against the perils of contemporary vices, with particular emphasis on the menace of drug and substance abuse.
He also emphasized the significance of cultural preservation, stating, “Culture is your identity. Preserve your culture.” Principal Anurodh Chitra, and Dr Aotoshi, Pro Vice Chairman of Delhi Public School Dimapur in their speech congratulated the students and encouraged them to utilize every given opportunity as a preparation for future success.
Recognizing excellence, athletes from six categories were honored as the Best Athletes of the year. They are Likupu Sumi (Sub-Junior Girls), Canna Awomi (Sub- Junior Boys), Samjana Thapa (Junior Girls), Tongtiser Longkumer (Junior Boys), Ronem Jamir (Senior Girls), Armen Longkumer (Senior Boys). The prestigious title of Best March was awarded to the Zungki House contingent.
Throughout the academic year, the four houses of the school tirelessly engaged in academic, cultural and sports competitions, fostering participation, leadership, and sportsmanship among students and for the second consecutive year, Tizu House clinched the coveted title of Overall Champions for the academic year 2023-2024, marking a testament t petitive spirit, the press release stated.
