DPS Dimapur supports environmental protection

Dimapur, April 22 (MExN): To demonstrate support for environmental protection and to empower students with knowledge that will inspire action in defense of environmental threat, World Earth Day-2017 was celebrated at Delhi Public School, Dimapur on April 22.  

Besides the plethora of activities – cultural programme, Tree-plantation, procession, literary and art competitions, DPS Dimapur organized the 1st Inter School Cross Country Race (A 4km run from Green Park junction 5th Mile to DPS Campus).  

Altogether 264 participants representing Eight (8) schools from Dimapur took part in the event. 

Letginlun Hangsing (Greenwood Hr Sec. School) emerged as the champion followed by Nipuka Swu (Carmel Hr. Sec. School) and Huka Achumi (Hollotoli School) in the second and third place respectively. A press release stated here that Meyipokyim Aier (IFS), Chairman of Nagaland State Pollution Control Board flagged – off the race at 6:00 am and also graced the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest. He interacted with the students drawing attention to environmental concerns and called upon the students to act and become a global citizenry by embracing an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
